Refocus on Recovery 2027 international conference

Social and inclusive

Lived experience

The conference is led by a chair who has personal experience of disabling mental health problems, and our conference aims to be a healthy space for people with personal experience of mental health difficulties.

The perspectives of people with personal experience of mental health problems are represented throughout the conference planning process, including through members of the Scientific Advisory Board and Local Organising Committee, and through our keynote speakers.

We recognise that attending an international conference can be a new experience, so have a dedicated relaxation room available throughout the conference to give a quiet space if needed. We are open to suggestions for improving the accessibility of our conference.

Openness to new community members

Whilst many attendees at Refocus on Recovery 2027 will already know other delegates, we recognise that many will not, and we want to help integrate people into our community. As the conference gets closer, delegates will be able to opt in to a managed WhatsApp group, whose aim will be to facilitate connections with others. To join this group, please email your mobile number to stefan.egglestone@nottingham.ac.uk. This allows us to keep the group closed to only conference attendees.
