Refocus on Recovery 2025 international conference

 Poster and lightning talks information

Abstract submission is now closed, with more than 90 submissions received. We would like to thank everyone who submitted to our conference.

At the conference

All poster presenters must provide a PDF copy of their poster at least 1 week prior to the conference. Poster presenters are required to bring a printed poster to present at the conference (in PORTRAIT and no larger than A0 or A1). The PDF version of the poster will be made available for all delegates, through the conference website.

If anyone needs to request they be assigned to a specific day then please let us know here and we will do our best to accommodate.

People who have been accepted for a “lighting talk and poster” presentation

Lightning talks are a new feature for Refocus on Recovery. We included them because it means that more people can be given a voice at our conference. Lightning talks are a regular feature at other conferences, where they can feel like a burst of energy. We will have two sessions of lighting talks at our conference, which are both scheduled in the morning.

You will have been contacted by email on 14th July 2025 if we think you want to take part in one of our lighting talks sessions. Please contact refocusonrecovery@nottingham.ac.uk if you haven’t heard from us. Everyone who has been accepted for a lighting talk should also prepare a poster to display in one of our poster boards. Instructions for posters have been sent separately. Please send us a PDF of your poster by end of 29th August 2025. On the day, please bring your printed poster with you in A0 or A1 Portrait orientation.

All lightning talks will take place in the main conference hall. A member of the conference team will help presenters queue in the same order as the slides that we have received. One of the conference co-chairs will be on stage to invite each person on. Each presenter will move to the lectern, and give their lighting talk. After their time is up, a bell will be rung, and the next person’s slide will go on the screen.

We want to make sure that everyone, regardless of any form of disability, can be a lighting talk presenter. If you do have a disability that we need to make an adjustment for, then please let us know, by emailing refocusonrecovery@nottingham.ac.uk. You’ll need to let us know by end of 25th July, so that the company that handles our staging has time to make any necessary adjustments to our setup. We’re unlikely to be able to make any adjustments for request received after this date, as equipment orders will have been placed by then.

Making all of this work takes quite a bit of organisation, so we need your help to make things run smoothly. Firstly, you’ll need to be registered for the conference by the end of August 8th 2025. This gives us certainty as to how many lighting talks that we need to cater for, and hence the length of each talk.

Then, you’ll need to send us your slides by end of 29th August 2025, so that we can organise them into a deck, and finalise our arrangements for getting people in the right order.

We’ll send precise instructions for your slides by end of 15th August, so that you have time to prepare. You can assume though that you’ll have between 1 – 2 minutes for the lightning talk. You can embed videos/audio if you wish, but if they fail to run, we won’t be able to give you any extra time to get them working, otherwise other presenters will lose time.

We’ll also let you know what session you’ll be presenting in by the end of the 15th August. If you have any constraints on which days you can attend, please let us know by emailing refocusonrecovery@nottingham.ac.uk. If you have any questions, please ask, we want everyone to feel as comfortable as possible with how the session will run.

People who have been accepted for a poster only presentation

If you’ve been accepted to present a poster at Refocus on Recovery 2025, you need to register by 8th August 2025 so that we can be certain how many posters need to be displayed at our conference. Please send us a PDF of your poster by end of 29th August 2025. On the day, please bring your printed poster with you in A0 or A1 Portrait orientation.

All oral presentations will be live-streamed and recorded. Attendees who have purchased an online ticket will be able to watch the presentations live and have immediate access to presentations after Refocus on Recovery 2025.

Please note: We want Refocus on Recovery 2025 to feel like a meeting of a community, and hence we will only be offering in-person presentations. All presenters must register and cover the costs of attending the conference in person. Presenter will not be offered a fee for presenting. We will offer to waive the registration fee for individuals accepted for a twenty minute oral presentation, and where they would qualify for a concessionary ticket (criteria here).
