Study 1

Exploring the impact of Recovery Colleges on student outcomes and service use

Study 1 is a pre-post study of a sample of Recovery College students to understand the impact of Recovery Colleges on people using mental health services who enrol as students.

Who can take part?

We are interested in students enrolled at a participating Recovery College, who:

  • Are aged 18 or over
  • Have capacity to give informed consent
  • Are newly enrolled at the Recovery College, having completed a maximum of one introductory/welcome class or workshop
  • Are currently using or waiting to access local secondary or tertiary NHS mental health services (such as a community mental health team or an outpatient clinic)

What does taking part involve?

Participants in Study 1 will be asked to complete a survey once they enrol at a participating Recovery College, then asked to complete the same survey again 4, 8, and 12 months afterwards. These can be completed either on paper, online, over the phone, in a video call or be sent by post. Student participants will receive £60 for completing all 4 surveys. For more information you can look at our Study 1 flyer and Study 1 poster or watch our Study information video.
