Nottingham researchers seeking mental health citizen scientists
Have you been involved in a citizen science project investigating a topic related to mental health? We are seeking people with experience in this area to participate in a consultation. Citizen science is a new approach within mental health research, and there is some debate about what makes it a distinctive approach. We are investigating whether there is consensus on the key features which make a project a mental health citizen science project, rather than other participatory kinds of mental health research.
Who can take part? We invite you to take part in this consultation if you are aged 18+ and have been involved with a mental health citizen science project either as a public contributor (someone who contributes information to a project) or as a project lead (someone involved in designing or running a project).
Being a public contributor may have involved providing information or conducting observations about yourself, others, existing research, or the physical or social environment to contribute to scientific knowledge, either once or several times – for example, about your mood, an experience of a service, through reading mental health-related research papers for relevant content or by describing the characteristics or suitability of a building or facility.
Being a project lead may have involved designing research questions, analysing data and knowledge generated by the project, and/or working together to publicise and take further action about the project results.
Who is running this study? We are a team of mental health researchers based at the Institute of Mental Health, University of Nottingham, UK.
